Is Truth Evaporating?
Truth is hardly at a premium in present times
The New World Era of Trumpism, Putinism and Xiism fosters a climate of blatant power play, fake news, false promises intertwined with saturated, persistent manipulative click bait and uncertain financial stability.
This adds enormous pressure to business leaders, notably for CEOs on short tenures who are pressured by investors to deliver fast growth that is often at the expense of stable sustained expansion and robust customer service support.
VCs and Private Equity Firms are by nature extremely ROI focused and increasingly algorithm driven. They can be fickle and unforgiving when the wind changes, hence adding to a CEO’s peril.
Bending the truth for political and financial gain is increasingly in vogue.
On the other hand, at Transaction Focus, Truedil and TFocus Energy, we have a saying:
“Without Truth Everything Evaporates”
There seem to be more Self Righteous Leaders who are losing Team Truth, Transparency and Contribution Visibility is eroding in many organisations.
their Sense of Purpose for the team and organisation
In 2023, the average CEO-to-worker pay ratio for S&P 500 companies in the United States was 268-to-1; in Switzerland 143:1, in France 68:1 and in the UK approximately 120:1 (according to The Guardian newspaper). Sadly these rates are growing year on year and trust is gradually being eroded between leaders of organisations and employees.
Levels of Productivity, PSR (Personal Social Responsibility) are likely to fade and absenteeism is growing as hybrid working habits have taken hold since the pandemic.
“Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters.” – Albert Einstein
More Transparency and True Diligence (Truedil) is needed.
With smart open planning, openness, team empowerment and true visibility, a new more vibrant progressive culture can be created and ingrained.
Dynamic tech start ups need to get culture right to survive let alone thrive.

Traditional family generational firms know the importance of True Continuity.
There is often Respect in Established Companies as they have learnt through generations
European Family firms, Far Eastern and Middle Eastern and Indian Conglomerates that have existed for hundreds of years have achieved True Continuity with consistent company stewardship, astute transparent succession planning and employee longevity.
Berkshire Hathaway with Warren Buffett at the helm demonstrate traditional True Servant Leadership and consistency and motivate their teams and partner companies to exceed expectations.
Family companies and Conglomerates (such as LG, Reliant, Samsung, Sony and Tata) have stood the test of time by being globally ambitious, consistent and true to their word, as well as creating an open, empowering innovation culture, integrating creative talent and work methods from all around the World

“Three things cannot be long hidden: the Sun, the Moon, and the Truth.” – Buddha
Creating Trust is key to retaining creative, dedicated talent. This requires patience, imagination, cohesive community spirit and supportive servant leadership.
These Corporate brands are icons of pride for their country people. In Countries such as South Korea, Chaebol companies are an extension of employees’ family.

Bill Gates created an extremely high performance honest culture at Microsoft. This proactive culture permeates in the Melinda Gates Foundation and Breakthrough Energy and is for all to see on the Netflix Series “What’s Next? The Future with Bill Gates.
Since 2010 with their “Giving Pledge”, Bill Gates and Warren Buffett have convinced over 200 billionaires from around the World to invest into charitable or community causes.
This is an astounding achievement and highly inspiring for all mankind at a time of uncertainty and shaky leadership. Gates and Buffett are demonstrating awesome, courageous and humane true leadership.
“Giving Back” even for micro entrepreneurs helps foster a positive, progressive spirit and is a key component of philanthropic entrepreneurship. This can take the shape of volunteering that is a cornerstone of Blab and BCorp certification.
Truth as a base commodity is increasingly important for SMBs
Samson Quain for Chron Small Business emphasises that honesty and truth culture has a significant trickle down effect on everyone in an organisation.
A culture based on Truth and Honesty undoubtedly is the strong team ethic glue in Business and Sport. It motivates and enables the team to sustain proactive productivity and to more easily stay away from negative or disruptive outside influences.
Openness, Truth and Common Courtesy and Decency are core values for sustaining long term CX (Customer Service Excellence). CX, especially in hospitality and retail sectors is a hallmark indicator of progress. This is certainly the case for Waitrose, the UK Supermarket chain.

Global ESG Growth Culture is the way forward
In terms of Economic Output per hour, the UK is sadly trailing behind the USA by nearly 40% and by 20% compared with Germany and France.
The present Labour government and the past government and the government funded bodies (N.B. The Office for National Statistics) all point to declining productivity since the 2008 Financial Crisis. All and sundry have ignored the largest 2016 reason = BREXIT.
Everyone in past and present government supported Brexit and therefore will not admit to the bare facts that Brexit has slowed down the UK economy hugely.
This is blatantly untruthful and deceiving. Is the UK economy evaporating?
Brexit has exponentially multiplied productivity issues by:
- The loss of productive overseas employees and ensuing labour cost increases
- Huge disruption of supply chains made worse by the Pandemic
- Massive trade barriers for all businesses that not reported in the UK press
- Investment uncertainty by international and domestic investors
- Regulatory divergence has added to further complication and procrastination
Companies (UK and overseas) that grow faster in international markets and enjoy the journey naturally become more diverse, innovate faster and in turn are far more productive. Proactive UK companies can achieve this. Some Shining British companies such as Dyson do. Fortunately there are many, but not enough.
A new adventurous open spirit is needed
Since President Trump’s inauguration, the European Union and many multinationals are back tracking on the ESG and Net Zero pledges. CSRD and CSDDD may no longer be transposed into EU law.
This, however, does not mean that organisations should not embrace ESG (Environmental and Social “SELF” Governance) which is a new abbreviation for CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility).
Business Leaders can use ESG as an inspired culture catalyst for growth.
Young dynamic people have strong PSR (Personal Social Responsibility) values and want to join organisations who enable them to develop their positive beliefs and sense of purpose: i.e. doing what they can for the environment and their communities.
These bright talents will not take advantage of hybrid home working, but will want to be present and active in a dynamic work place environment.
By “SELF”, I mean it is up to every organisation to find their own practical affordable solution to ESG. Trump has effectively delayed a Global ESG obligation and is enabling organisations to shape their own interpretation … and adopt their ESG Growth Culture.

True Continuity in business requires teams to function optimally in pursuit of clear business goals and to innovate to inspire customers to spend and reorder more quickly.
